Humanity & Sin Session 10
Discussion Question #1
The points that Adam named Eve which showed authority and that God addressed Adam after sin was committed showed his authority and responsibility for Eve. I have often wondered what would have happened if Adam would not have chosen to join Eve in the act of sin.
Discussion Question #2
I agree that role distinction is important to the effectiveness of humanity as a whole. I believe God made man and woman for precise and different roles. I will go further to say that many of the usurps of these roles has taken a toll on the family. While there are times when women or men must take on opposite roles it is not they societal order that I believe God intended.
Discussion Question #3
I fall on the side of complementarian. I believe in distinct roles created by God. I know that God has provided for dignity for both male and female by creating all in His image.
Discussion Question #4
Yes, I believe that the role that women are set in is greatly honored in the Scriptures. I view the role of nurturing the children as the most important role given.
Discussion Question #5
Probably not, but I see the turn of the roles primarily as a result of World War II when so many women had to fill the manufacturing roles left vacated by the men going to war. Women suddenly felt their importance in the work they did just as the men had. After the war was over, many women did not want to give up the ‘liberty’ of work (active sin tendency to rebel against authority).
Discussion Question #6
N/A
Discussion Question #7
See it through the eyes God created it. Recognize the gift that God gave to us by seeing the importance of not only nurturing our children but also our men in that we show them the respect and honor God had intended. For many years (I have been married for 24) I wrestled with the act of being submissive to my husband in a godly way and prayed for a submissive heart. The day came and I realized through the help of the Holy Spirit, that submission (as we often view it) was not the problem, respect and honor was. I needed to honor my husband more and as I prayed for God to show me ways that I could honor him, submission became more of a mute subject.
Discussion Question #8
This lesson helped me become more firm in my belief. I did not know what the name of the belief was until going through this class. Complementarianism helps me put a foundation to what I believe and explain why I hold this belief.
